The Art of Hanging Art

FALL 001

The Art of Hanging Art.

When it comes to bringing style and color to your home, art is a great way to accomplish this. However, figuring out the best way to hang your prized pieces can be confusing. Here are some tips and tricks to help make the art hanging process easier! Firstly, it’s important to remember that when it comes to selecting the ideal height to hang art, you should aim to center the artwork 60” above the floor. This is a great guideline that usually makes the perfect place to start.

When it comes to selecting the layout of the artwork, make sure to factor in strategies to allow the pictures to act as one grand gesture instead of separate pieces of artwork. To make this a reality, aim to leave two inches of negative space between each piece of art. This should create the necessary breathing room for each art piece and allow them to be seen as one single set.

Be sure to also keep versatility in mind when picking the frames of your artwork. Stick with a selection of frames that will help you easily swap out artwork when you’re feeling inspired to make design changes. By having a few neutral and distinct pieces in your arsenal such as black, white, wood tones, etc., you can easily repurpose and switch up your artwork collection.

Finally, take your time when hanging your art– it’s better to be careful than rushed during this process. Have a tape measure handy, mark the location of each piece with a pencil, and make sure to check for level before finally securing each place. Hanging your art doesn't have to be a daunting task. By following these steps, you’ll be able to create a beautiful art gallery in your own home!

What is Eclectic Interior Design?

Eclectic interior design is all about harmoniously blending different styles, periods, and elements to create a visually intriguing and personally meaningful space. It's about breaking the rules and letting your creativity shine, resulting in a home that tells a story of your life experiences, interests, and personality. The beauty of eclecticism is that there are no hard and fast rules – it's all about achieving balance amidst the chaos.

Key Elements of Eclectic Interior Design

  • Diverse Mix of Styles: At the core of eclectic design is the combination of various styles, such as modern, traditional, vintage, bohemian, and more. A harmonious mix of contrasting elements will keep your space dynamic and engaging.
  • Bold Color Palette: Eclectic interiors often feature a bold and vibrant color palette. You can use color to create focal points and add personality to your space.

  • Eclectic Furnishings: Incorporate unique and one-of-a-kind furnishings, such as antique pieces, vintage finds, and artisanal items. These can be excellent conversation starters and add character to your space. Yes, I am talking about your Grandmas old chair, or throw blanket.
  • Layered Textures: Mixing textures – from smooth silks to rough-hewn wood – adds depth and dimension to an eclectic interior. This approach creates a rich, tactile experience.
  • Art and Décor: Showcase an assortment of art and décor items that reflect your interests and travels. Wall art, sculptures, and decorative objects can be thoughtfully curated to add meaning to your space.
  • Personal Touch: Ultimately, an eclectic interior design should feel uniquely "you." It's the place to display your personal collections, cherished mementos, and family heirlooms.
